I got mine in May of 2006. I was just wandering if it ever expires like the mcse or the ccna. If it does, how long dose it last before it expires?

I just took a security course in which the book was based on preparing for the security+ exam and I was thinking about trying to get certified. How in depth is the test? Should I know stuff like specific cases of historic virus/attack cases or is it more general like public/private key stuff? Its kinda of a lot of money so I intend on passing it the first time.

I live in Portsmouth UK(so if you are Stateside,then no point answering this question) and the local college has cancelled a very good IT course I could have done due to funding problems.Any ideas where I can do A+ in the Hampshire area?

I know a great deal of computers out of my own research and experience. I have books on A+ and have done computer repairs for family and friends. I have two jobs (non-IT related) and I barely have time to attend a school or training facility. I would like to know if I can register for the exam without ever having attended an institution.
